Preharvest Applications of Oxalic Acid and Salicylic Acid Increase Fruit Firmness and Polyphenolic Content in Blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum L.)

Blueberry exports that imply transport times of more than 25 d deteriorate their quality. The use elicitors in preharvest has shown positive effects on the quality berries such as grapes. objective this study was to evaluate applications (21, 14, and 7 before harvest) oxalic acid (OA) salicylic (SA) fruit firmness phenolic compounds blueberry. treatments 0, 2, 4 mM OA ‘Kirra’ SA are ‘Stella blue’. With earlier application, presented better blue’; however, 2 both cultivars increased firmness, maintaining its weight diameter with respect control. It should be noted treatment generated a 100% increase polyphenolic content antioxidant capacity (p < 0.05) Blue’, values close 140 mg gallic 100 g−1 80 fresh (FW), respectively. In Kirra, did not have significant impact polyphenol content, but by 20%, total anthocyanin blueberry fruit, Based our results, three pre-harvest during development until beginning ripening improve up 20% at different harvest.
